Transparency: Make your icons fade in and out

The screenshots really don't show the full tweak, because motion makes your icons move.

Enhance iOS 4's native folders!

iOS 4 brought with it the ability to put apps and bookmarks into folders. Unfortunately, the implementation is quite limited.

FolderEnhancer takes this feature and improves upon it, making it a viable solution for organizing and accessing your apps.

Features:

o Open folders faster.
o Add up to 320 icons to a folder (20 pages, 16 per page).
o Create folders inside of folders.
o Create folders on the dock.
o Supports Iconoclasm for custom layouts inside of folders.
o Extends MultiIconMover to allow moving multiple icons into/out of folders.
o Options include hiding the folder name and wallpaper, as well as disabling animations.

FolderEnhancer intregrates with and works as a part of the home screen application (SpringBoard).
Creating and opening folders is done as normal.
Closing a folder can be done by either tapping on an empty part of the folder, or by swiping downward.
To remove an icon from a folder, drag the icon over the dock area and either wait for the current folder to close, or drop the icon to remove it from all folders.
Note that icons can not be directly moved between folders and the dock, as this would interfere with moving icons to parent folders. Grabbing a dock icon while a folder is open will cause the folder to close.

Options:

Folder Name
(Default: On)

Off: The name of the folder will be hidden.
On: The name of the folder will be displayed above the icons in the open folder.

Folder Wallpaper
(Default: On)

Off: The background of the folder will be transparent, and the SpringBoard wallpaper will be visible.
On: An image file will be used for the background of the folder.

For information on replacing this image file, please see the FAQ.

Animate Open/Close
(Default: On)

Off: When opening or closing a folder, the folder will appear without animating.
On: When opening or closing a folder, the folder will zoom in or out.

Clipping Window
(Default: On)

For the default background image, a clipping window is used to make it appear that the icons stay inside the rounded frame.

Whether or not one would want this enabled for a custom wallpaper image depends on the design of the image.

Off: Icons will remain visible up to the edge of the screen.
On: Icons will begin to disappear several pixels before reaching the left or right edge of the screen.

Note that this option has no effect when "Folder Wallpaper" is "Off".

Known Issue's

iTunes-related

Because iTunes is not designed to handle subfolders or folders with more than 12 icons, it is not possible to use iTunes' icon layout feature.

FolderEnhancer uses IconSupport to prevent any errors with iTunes. Any attempt to change layout via iTunes will safely be ignored.

For rearranging icons rapidly, the developer recommends using the MultiIconMover extension.

FaQ's:

Can I use my own folder wallpaper image?

Yes. The image file is located at:

/System/Library/CoreServices/
SpringBoard.app/
FEFolderBG.png

(Use FEFolderBG@2x.png for devices with retina displays).

Overwriting this file is not recommended, though, as it will be replaced with each FolderEnhancer upgrade.

Instead, the recommended method is to use WinterBoard (by Jay Freeman, available for free via Cydia).

Where is feature X from CategoriesSB?

While FolderEnhancer is designed after CategoriesSB, it does not have all the same options.

One reason for this is that some of the options are either already built into iOS 4 (badges), or are always on (tap/swipe to close).

Another reason is that some options are not feasible with FolderEnhancer or iOS 4. One such option is the ability to hide the dock; if the dock were hidden, it would not be possible to drag icons out of a folder.

How to Fix Folder Enhancer “Piracy Hurt” Error

Some of you may get the below error while using “unauthorized” Folder Enhancer version 1.1.1-1, it’s because your evaluation period has expired, and you got to purchase it due to the effort of the developer. However, if you wish to continue to “evaluate” this fantastic software, you got to do something to remove the error. In this tutorial, i will guide you how to remove the “Piracy Hurt” error for your Folder Enhancer on your iPhone 4/3GS/3G.

Uninstalled the app in Cydia, go to Manage – Packages – FolderEnhancer – Modify – Remove
Launch your i-Funbox ( other SSH tools are working too )
Deleted /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/jp.ashikase.folderenhancer.plist
Download latest version of FolderEnhancer .deb file from here
Put the .deb into the cydia /var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall/
Respring or Reboot your iPhone

[How-To] Jailbreak iPhone 4S, iPad 2 Untethered On iOS 5.0.1 With Absinthe

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, stop what you are doing, go grab your A5 Apple device and prepare to receive the gift of liberation. For the last nine weeks all eyes have been firmly fixed on the individual blogs and Twitter accounts of the teams involved waiting patiently for day when the good news will appear.

Today is that day, as we are seeing the rollout of the new Chronic Dev Team tool, Absinthe. The initial release is for Mac OS X computers with the Windows and Linux version just waiting to be packaged before it can be given to the world. See below for a step by step guide on jailbreaking your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 using Absinthe.

Absinthe is a GUI tool which is intended to provide an untethered jailbreak for the following devices and firmwares:

iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0, 5.0.1 (9A405 and 9A406)
iPad 2 Wifi/GSM/CDMA running iOS 5.0.1
Absinthe iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak For iPhone 4S/iPad 2

NOTE: Please make sure you take a full back up of your device before beginning. The Absinthe program uses a new jailbreak technique, and although no problems are expected, the development teams waive any responsibility if anything does go wrong.

Step 1: Download the compressed Absinthe package. Extract all files and run the executable file. Download link in the end.

Step 2: Connect your iPad 2 or iPhone 4S to your Mac or Windows computer using a USB cable and launch the Absinthe tool and you will be presented with a GUI as shown below:

Step 3: You will notice a button on the right hand side of the Absinthe program which says ‘Jailbreak’. Once your device is connected, click that button to begin the process. What looks like a restore will begin on your device with the words ‘Restoring in Progress’ being present. Please do not touch the device, the process can be quite time consuming.

Step 4: Once the restore is completed, unlock your iPhone / iPad and look for the ‘Absinthe’ icon which will now be located on your device’s Springboard. Tapping the icon will momentarily launch the GreenPois0n website, before causing your device to reboot. After the reboot is completed, the aforementioned Absinthe icon will now be replaced by a beautiful brown Cydia one.

NOTE: If you are receiving an ‘Error establishing connection’ message at this stage, exit to your Springboard and be patient. The website servers are experiencing a tremendous increase in traffic so just keep trying to launch the Absinthe ‘app’. Alternatively, as a quick fix you can head over to the SETTINGS > GENERAL > NETWORK > VPN entry and then toggle VPN to ‘on’. This will cause an error message to be generated, which will reboot your device when dismissed. You can then launch the Absinthe icon again.

Step 5: The steps are all over. Your device is booted into a jailbroken state. You can now launch Cydia and follow through the process of setting up your favorite tweaks and extensions.

As you can see, the process has been made as simple as possible using this new powerful tool. The steps ands relatively easy and there isn’t much work involved, but remember to make that important back up.

iBlackList allows your to create a blacklist or whitelist for filtering purposes. iBlacklist also features a scheduler which allows you to set the time of day iBlackList is active. The unregistered version of iBlackList allows you to filter 2 numbers. For unlimited numbers your must register.

Now to add a number to our BlackList press the BlackList button.

Press Settings Calls to modify the settings for call filtering. Here you can set the action to take when a filter call comes in. You can also enable or disable the call filter and set the preferences to save history, delete recent calls, filter restrict number, filter unknown number, show a status bar icon, and vibrate. Press the Save

button at the top left hand corner when finished modifying the settings.

We can also press Settings SMS to modify the filter options for SMS messages. Here you can enable or disable SMS filtering and set the preferences to save history, delete SMS upon receipt, filter unknown number, show a status bar icon, and vibrate. Press the Save button at the top left hand corner when finished modifying the settings.

You can press Scheduler from the main menu to set the iBlackList's operation schedule.

Press to select a day of the week and you can modify the hours iBlackList is enabled for that day.

Press the Save button at the top left to return to back to the iBlackList menu.

Finally you can also change your password by pressing the Password button on the main menu. Enter a new password and then press the large red Save password button.

You can now press the Home button to exit iBlackList. When ever you receive a filtered text or call you will notice an icon in your Status bar. Press to launch iBlackList from the SpringBoard.

[News] iPhone 4S Untethered Jailbreak On iOS 5.0.1 Demoed On Video

It seems like we are not too far off now from a public release of an untethered jailbreak for both iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Pod2g, who is the genius behind this iOS 5 exploit for both A4 and A5 devices, has posted a video on his blog which shows jailbroken iPhone 4S running Cydia, on iOS 5.0.1, fully untethered.

My friend @DHowett made a video of an untethered 4S iPhone 4,1 running iOS 5.0.1 some days ago.
@DHowett is a famous iOS developer and a member of the Chronic Dev Team.
Only a few to wait now.

Earlier today, a member of the so called “Dream Team”, the legendary iPhone hacker PlanetBeing, tweeted out some more progress on A5 jailbreak (for iPhone 4S and iPad 2), confirming unsigned code running successfully on his iPhone 4S.

@planetbeing: Finally got unsigned code running on my 4S with the stuff that will go into the new jailbreak!

While there is still no official ETA from either of the Dev-Teams for this most awaited jailbreak in recent times, but if the “hint” in Pod2g’s blog post is anything to go by, it is only a matter of few more days now before we can all get our hands on jailbreak for both iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
In the meantime, if you still haven’t upgraded your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 to iOS 5.0.1 yet, it is highly advisable to do so now as Corona untethered jailbreak exploit has been reportedly patched by Apple in the latest iOS 5.1 Beta. You MUST upgrade your device to final version of iOS 5.0.1 now before iOS 5.1 is released to public. This is important because once final version of IOS 5.1 is out, you wont be able to downgrade your device back to iOS 5.0.1 and hence will be out of luck for any jailbreak until the next one pops out – which probably wont be available anytime soon.

[How-To] Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Untethered On iPhone, iPad, iPod touch (A4 Devices) Now Using Redsn0w 0.9.10b3 / Corona

The b3 version of redsn0w fixes a problem where re-running redsn0w over an existing jailbreak would cause MobileSubstrate-based apps to stop running until MS was installed again. Now you can re-run the redsn0w jailbreak step without worrying about that (but still remember to de-select the “Install Cydia” option if it’s already installed).

It has been nearly eight weeks since the first declaration by pod2g that he had found a bug that he believed could provide an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5. We find ourselves exactly fifty days down the line, and what I imagine has been a lot of sleepless nights for the developers involved, but we now officially have the release of an untethered jailbreak for all A4 devices running iOS 5.0.1.

On December 22nd, pod2g announced via his official blog that would be passing all of his work and details across to the researchers at the Chronic Development Team partly to allow him to concentrate on progressing the development of an A5 jailbreak, and partly because he believed that the Chronic Dev Team could integrate and package all of his work into a distributable jailbreak.
It seems that his instincts were correct as only five days after that decision was made, we are seeing a release of a jailbreak for A4 devices on iOS 5.0.1 which has been implemented by both the Chronic Dev and iPhone Dev teams.
The iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak contains the exact same set of files that pod2g provided to the Chronic Dev Team, and can be distributed as either a download via Cydia by searching for a package named ‘Corona’, for users who are already jailbroken tethered, or through a Redsn0w bundle for users who have running stock iOS and have been waiting for this untether.
At the time of writing, it is worth noting that this jailbreak currently only supports iOS 5.0.1 with Chronic Dev Team member p0sixninja tweeting out that 5.0 will follow soon after a number of small bugs have been eradicated and more testing has been carried out. Pod2g has also released some advice to A4 and A5 users advising not to update their devices to iOS 5.0.2 or 5.1 when released as this would cut their chance of a future jailbreak.

Note: The jailbreak released is supported on all A4 based (and below) devices like iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 3G/4G and iPad 1. Newer A5-based devices like iPad 2 and iPhone 4S are currently not supported.

For Users On iOS 5.0.1 Tethered Jailbreak:

If you are currently operating an A4 device which has a tethered jailbreak using Redsn0w, Ac1dSn0w or Sn0wbreeze then you can simply launch Cydia from your Springboard and download a package named ‘Corona’ which will provide you with an untethered jailbreak.

For Users On Stock iOS 5.0.1:

If your device is running stock iOS 5.0.1 then you can use download the latest Redsn0w 0.9.10b3 to for either Windows or Mac to give yourself an untethered jailbreak, instructions for which can be found below.

Step 1: Download the latest version of Redsn0w from the links given above.
Step 2: Start Redsn0w, select "Jailbreak" then check "Install Cydia". Follow the onscreen steps to place your device into DFU mode.
Step 3: Wait for Redsn0w to apply the full untethered jailbreak!
Once done, your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch will be rebooted into fully untethered jailbreak mode!

For Users Who Rely On Unlock:

For those of you who rely on Ultrasn0w or Gevey SIM unlock must preserve the old baseband using “Custom IPSW” option found in Redsn0w.

CallTell is a simple but cool tweak available in cydia that names out who is calling you. So for example you get a call and before ringing like normal the iphone uses its voice control feature to name out whos calling first. CallTell only works on the iPhone 3gs and iPhone 4 since voice control is required.
CallTell also has the ability to read out who has sent you a text message using voice control along with being able to read the whole txt message out to you. For the Review:

My personal experience with this cool tweak is 50/50. The name calling out loud before a call works well but its not loud at all so that defeats the purpose as you can barely hear the name before it starts your normal ringtone. The text messaging also isn’t loud so again it defeats the purpose along with not being compatible with bitesms or other 3rd party text messaging apps.
I couldn’t get the message reading to work until i disabled my 3rd party bitesms app and went back to using the regular stock messaging Apple app. Overall CallTell is a good tweak but needs some work and compatability added to it before it gets an A in my book. You can purchase it for $1.99 in cydia.

These are instructions on how to backup your SHSH blobs using Firmware Umbrella for Windows. You can find the Mac version of this tutorial here.

Step One
Download the latest version of Firmware Umbrella from here to your Desktop.

Step Two
Right Click umbrella-4.01.03.exe and Choose Run as administrator from the contextual popup menu.

If you get a Windows Security Alert, make sure both boxes are checked, and hit Allow Access.

Step Three
You will be asked to Connect a Device.

Once you do so Umbrella will detect the type of device and its firmware.

Step Four
Check the Advanced Options box. Confirm the ECID of your device, make sure the correct firmware version is selected, and set the Location to Cydia.

Step Five

Hi, guys. Here are the instructions how to get Panorama 3d working in Navigon v1.8.

What you'll need:

Navigon v1.8.ipa for your region - you can get it from below.
Panorama Terrain files for your region - use those from previous versions, they are same.
iFunbox, DiskAid or any other tool - to access folders on your device.
iFile - to set some file properties.

Instructions:
Download and unrar this file: Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!
You should see there two files - NAVIGON and one .plist file.
Open the Navigon v1.8.1 ipa on your computer with WinRar, 7zip or something similar.
Go to /Payload/NAVIGON.app and drag&drop the file NAVIGON extracted from the above archive there.
Still there find and open Info.plist, search for key CFBundleIdentifier and copy the string value (it is region specific, i.e. for Europe it
should look like com.navigon.NavigonEurope) :

Rename the .plist file from the archive and make sure the name matches the copied string. You'll need that .plist later.

You are ready to install the modified .ipa. Please perform clean install - i.e. first remove any versions you have both from iTunes and your device, then add the modified .ipa file to iTunes library and sync.
Do not launch the installed application yet! Use your preffered tool to access your device and go to /var/mobile/Applications.../NAVIGON/Library/Preferences. Put the .plist file there.
Use iFile and make sure the owner and group of the .plist are both set to mobile.

1) Copy "premium_voices.rar" to the following directy (SSH, iPhone Explorer, whatever you like):

User/Applications/TomTom.app(should be a folder of letters and numbers)/US-Canada.app(or whichever version you have)

2) Using iFile, unarchieve the "premium_voices.rar", once completed, double-check "premium_voices" folder to see if files are there.

3) Using iFile, Copy "premium_voices" folder, once copied go to the following folder:

User/Applications/TomTom.app(should be a folder of letters and numbers)/Documents

4) In this folder you shall see another folder with the same name called "premium_voices", go ahead and paste over this folder (Overwrite All)

5) Once this is done, make sure to close the TomTom App, if its already open in the multi-tasking bar. Launch TomTom, go to:

Change Settings/Voice/Celebrity Voices

6) In here you can choose the new voices, select one and make sure it plays back a preview. If it does you have done it correctly

7) If it DOES NOT, playback a preview of the new voice, go back to ifile and redo steps 3 and 4. Then go back into the TomTom app and retry the voice sample, you may have to uncheck and select another voice and then recheck the celebrity voice to get it to playback.

***Worse Case***

8) If it does not work at step 7, delete all files within the folders you changed or simply uninstall the TomTom app and then reinstall. After this start the whole process over again.

Folks who rely on carrier unlocks using Ultrasn0w will be happy to know that its developers have just released an updated version of it which supports the final release of iOS 5.

The news comes straight from MuscleNerd – a famous hacker, jailbreak developer who is a part of the iPhone Dev-Team – in a tweet where he announces the updated version of Ultrasn0w.
For the uninitiated, Ultrasn0w is a program created by the iPhone Dev-Team which lets users unlock their iPhone so that they can use it on carriers other than the official ones. Once users have jailbroken their iPhone, they add a new repo to Cydia and then install Ultrasn0w to unlock their iPhone on iOS 5.
Gevey SIM on the other hand is a hardware-based unlock, which allows users to unlock their iPhone 4 on earlier basebands, including 04.10.01. But keep in mind that the newest basebands in iOS 5 are not supported by Gevey SIM at this point.

The updated version of Ultrasn0w released today brings support for iOS 5 final. Sadly, newer basebands aren’t supported, so you can only unlock via Ultrasn0w if you’ve got a compatible baseband: 01.59.00 for iPhone 4 and 04.26.08 / 05.11.07 / 05.12.01 / 05.13.04 / 06.15.00 for iPhone 3GS.
Before unlocking, you will need to jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 5. Jailbreaking enthusiasts will know that Redsn0w from iPhone Dev-Team has been successful in jailbreaking all betas of iOS 5 and even the GM release. These jailbreaks, however, did not preserved the older basebands. However, a new version of Redsn0w that was released yesterday preserves the old baseband on iPhones (like PwnageTool and Sn0wbreeze) which enables users to unlock using Ultrasn0w or Gevey SIM (tested, confirmed to be working on iOS 5 with older iOS 4.x baseband).

Unfortunately, this is still a tethered jailbreak which means you have to connect your iOS device with your PC every time you wish to reboot and boot back into the jailbroken state. According to prominent hacker i0nic, untethered jailbreak is already “covered” which, we believe, implies that we may see an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 sooner than what was previously expected.
If you’ve got an iPhone 3GS or 4 with supported baseband (you can check from Settings > General > About > Modem Firmware) on any version of iOS 4.x, then you can update to iOS 5 final, jailbreak it using Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze while preserving your baseband and then install Ultrasn0w or Gevey SIM to unlock your device.

Simply follow the steps jotted down below and you’ll be unlocked on iOS 5 final in no time:

Step 1: Jailbreak your iPhone using the latest version of Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze on iOS 5. Keep in mind that both jailbreaking tools support the preservation of the old baseband.
Step 2: Once you’re done jailbreaking iOS 5 on your iPhone 3GS/4, fire up Cydia.
Step 3: Tap on the Manage tab then tap on Sources then tap on Edit and Add the following repository: http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/

Step 4: Simply install the new Ultrasn0w 1.2.4 from the aforementioned repo, and voila! You’re unlocked!Note for iPhone 3GS users with 06.15 baseband:

Note: there’s a special “trick” that iPhone3GS owners with baseband 06.15 need for iOS5. During the new setup screens you see when you start iOS5 for the first time, you’ll be asked about Location Services. Be sure to select “Disable Location Services” when asked! Later on in the setup, you’ll have the chance to turn on Location Services again when asked if you want to use “Find my iPhone”. It’s fine to turn it back on at that point, if that’s your desire (or you can always go in and enable it in Settings.app).

For Gevey SIM users
Simply jailbreak using the methods given in Step 1 and follow the regular procedure for unlocking, which includes dialing the emergency ‘112’ number from your iPhone 4 and turning Airplane mode on or off till you get a cellular signal.

It’s finally here folks, today is the when Apple has flipped the switch on iOS 5, and millions upon millions of iPhones, iPads and iPod touches are in the process of being updated to the latest and greatest mobile operating system to come out of Cupertino.

This fifth iteration in the iOS saga is perhaps the biggest change that Apple has made to the software that runs on all our iDevices, since the implementation of the App Store. We’ve been playing with iOS 5 for quite some time now, and we’re sure you’re going to like what you see when you have finally installed iOS 5.
In order to give you an idea of what to expect, what has changed and what to look out for when your iDevice restarts post-update, we’ve put together a video showing just what Apple has added to iOS this time around, and there’s quite a bit.

The vide covers everything we could think of: there’s iMessage, the new messaging service that Apple believes is on a par with the likes of BlackBerry Messenger, offering instant messaging for free across all iOS devices running iOS 5.
Then there is the vastly improved Notifications Center, improvements to Camera app, the all new Reminders and Newsstand apps, Twitter integration, and lots more. Mail client has also got a significant update! It now supports rich text for adding bold, italic or indentations to your emails. Flagging messages is also now part of Mail in iOS 5 too, something that many Exchange users have been crying out for recently.
